About Breakwater
Breakwater sits on the eastern edge of Geelong about 4km from the CBD, on the south side of the Barwon River between South Geelong and Newcomb. It is an industrial-residential suburb — Fellmongers Rd and Tucker St run through it parallel to the river — and the two pubs reflect that split. The Breakwater Hotel on Tucker St is the older corner local: a 150-year-old country-style pub with a beer garden, Sky Racing TAB, and a Tue–Fri weekday meal-and-pot under $20 that pulls a regular bistro crowd from Belmont, Newcomb and South Geelong. White Eagle House on Fellmongers Rd is the larger sprawling community venue — bistro, function rooms, pokies, TAB, pool tables and big-screen sports with Steak Night and Parmis of the World as the standing weekly draws. Different rooms, different rooms — but both close enough for a short drive between them and a useful 2-pub stop for eastern-suburbs regulars.
