About Norlane
Norlane is a residential suburb on Geelong's northern edge, sitting between the industrial areas of North Geelong and Corio along the Princes Highway. Developed largely in the 1950s and 1960s as affordable housing for workers at the nearby Ford and Alcoa plants, it has a strong community identity. The Norlane Hotel is the suburb's institution — a highway landmark known for its tribute to Australian cycling legend Sir Hubert "Oppy" Opperman, and one of the few pubs in the region that stays open well into the early hours seven days a week.
